Battle: Los Angeles is a first-person shooter developed by Saber Interactive and published by Konami for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. It's based on the film of the same name and was also released on the film's theatrical release date, March 11, 2011.
Why It Sucks
- Campaign is just 45 minutes long (less than 20 minutes if you rush through it).
- No other modes aside from said campaign; there's no multiplayer mode, no challenge mode, and no horde mode.
- Costs $10, which is ludicrous for a game this short.
- Repetitive level design.
- Only one enemy type throughout the entire game.
- Enemies never change battle tactics.
- While the enemy AI is competent, they're too tall to be fully protected by cover, allowing you to easily headshot them.
- There are only four weapons in the entire game, consisting of an assault rifle, frag grenades, a sniper rifle, and a rocket launcher.
- Aliens take almost an entire clip to kill.
- All you do in combat is simply peek around cover and wait for opportunities to stand up and shoot.
- Incredibly easy, as your character can take a large amount of punishment and quickly heal up if you don't take any damage thereafter. You'll also never have to worry about conserving ammo due to ammo crates being plentiful.
- Disappointing enemy design.
- Paper-thin story told via comic-book cutscenes instead of footage from the movie.
- Generic soundtrack.
- Squadmates repeat the same two or three orders constantly every time enemies appear.
- At least it's visually impressive.
Battle: Los Angeles was met with negative reception. The Xbox 360 version has a Metacritic score of 39 based on 22 critic reviews, with the PC and PS3 versions holding Metascores of 38 and 43, respectively. Both versions' scores are based on nine critic reviews.
