Code Lyoko: Fall of X.A.N.A. is the third video game based on the French animated television series Code Lyoko, published by The Game Factory and released in the United States on June 20, 2008.

Why it Sucks

  1. The incoherent story is strictly for fans of the show.
  2. Graphics don't do the source material justice.
  3. The 2D portions are pointless since they add nothing at all to the game.
  4. Just when you think the game is going to end, it stretches on for another hour or two
  5. When the characters go to Lyoko, they become more simplistic and flat.
  6. The battles are decent but repetitive.
  7. Lyoko is a flat, bland world.
  8. The super deformed look in Lyoko doesn't really work.
  9. The game presents the heroes as cubby, tiny legged goobers that waddle through an environment and get thwarted by two foot high ledges. It looks silly and outdated on the DS, and clashes not only with the previous game, but the entire show it's based on.
  10. The battles tend to be pretty slow paced since only one character can attack at a time.
  11. Each attack, power, and item have an animation that can't be skipped or turned off.
  12. The gameplay is fairly repetitive and bland.
  13. For the majority of the game, you are wandering around unlocking gates.
  14. Lackluster visuals.
  15. There are no side quests or special dungeons, just switches, doors, and monsters for nine laborious hours.
  16. The controls aren't particularly interesting.
  17. There are a handful of poorly executed minigames that crop up in battle that only appear when your character has sustained enough damage, and they do little to make the combat more engaging.
  18. Most of your time in the game is spent staring at a deformed representation of an already oddly proportioned character as he or she shuffles around a drab environment ripe with texture tearing and fog.
  19. Poor 2D sprites.
  20. The effects for items and special moves look as if they were taken straight out of an early SNES game.
  21. Most of the sounds consist of digital menu bleeps and the shuffling sound of your warrior's feet.
  22. Forgettable music that loops in the background that gets hypnotic boring.
  23. Dull gameplay.
