Angry Video Game Nerd (Episode 89) Pong Consoles

The game that would one day be called "Pong" was invented in the 1960s by Ralph Baer, but not until it became Atari's first cash cow did it single-handedly launch the video game craze by becoming the first commercially successful electronic game played on a TV screen. Shortly after its arcade success, an army of home consoles playing Pong-like games flooded the marketplace. Though slightly different in their internal physics, and offering menus of exotic variations, they were all unmistakably Pong at heart. Here, the Nerd drags his vast collection of imitation Pongs out of the basement, to give us an intimate glimpse of video gaming's first gold rush.
