The Power Glove was a controller accessory for the NES using motion control to work. Though an official product, Nintendo had no involvement with development and it was made by Mattel in North America and PAX in Japan.
How It Worked
Each game required a specific code in order to use the Power Glove to play the game. Before playing, gamers had to set up sensors on top of the television screen to track the Power Glove's movements.
Why it Flopped
- The sensors were very hard to put on the TV, and would fall very easily.
- You have to enter a password to play a game with it, and they are so unnecessarily long.
- It's extremely unresponsive, which is unacceptable by itself, as a controller needs to be responsive for you to control your game properly. If (for some god forsaken reason) you were playing a game like Double Dragon, you wouldn't be able to punch any one because of it. It's also bad for games like Super Mario Bros. and Metroid where you have to jump constantly due to a glitch where your jumps are reduced in height.

- Left handed gamers couldn't use it, because Mattel only made a right handed version.
- It surprisingly performs rather well on racing games such as R.C. Pro-Am and Rad Racer.
- The Angry Video Game Nerd managed to defeat the final boss of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link with the Power Glove, albeit accidentally.
Years after its failure, the Power Glove was often parodied in pop culture and is most famous for being wielded by Lucas Barton in The Wizard. His quote, "I love the Power Glove. It's so bad," is now an internet meme. The Angry Video Game Nerd reviewed the Power Glove in his 14th episode and it has since been a staple in his character.
