It was created in 1997 and run by Tokuro Fujiwara, who was famous for creating Megaman and Ghosts and Goblins.
It went defunct in 2000 when the Tomba! games failed to sell well, despite being critically acclaimed by game critics. Most of the employees left Whoopee Camp and joined with Access Games.
Because of the defunct of Whoopee Camp, the Tomba! games are very rare and sell at very high prices.
